What's the Story Morning Glory?

Why are we here? This blog was created to keep you updated on the progress of our Breast Cancer 3-day Walk team - Holly's Girls. Team Holly's Girls will be walking 60 miles over the course of 3 days in beautiful Seattle, Washington. The purpose of the 3-day walk is to raise money and awareness to help fight breast cancer. We hope as a team to raise $10,000 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund and we are already almost half way there!

My dear friend Karen has walked in the 3-day walk twice before. I always admired her for this and thought maybe someday I'd join her myself. Earlier this year, I was reminded of just how important and urgent her journey was. In May, my Mom (Holly and the inspiration for this team) was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have to admit that I was extremely panicked and scared. Luckily, her prognosis is good and hopefully after this year, breast cancer will be just an annoying 'blip' in her memory. But still, we must not forget. In talking to more and more people, I began to realize just how prevalent this disease is - young, old, it affects us all - doesn't seem to matter. And so, Karen, Erin and I will take this journey, step by step - all 60 miles in the hopes that all of the mothers, daughers, nieces, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, friends, co-workers can someday find themselves in a world without cancer.
